The costumes date from the time when Menton was incorporated to France, around 1864.

Womenís dresses
  • A round and flat Italian straw hat
  • A cotton shirt with English embroidery
  • A white and blue striped skirt. The white and the blue are in memory of the year 1687, when Prince Honorť of Monaco dedicated Menton to the Virgin.
  • Under the skirt, a white petticoat in lace.
  • A black apron with handmade embroideries.
  • On the shirt, a black corset and a black shawl with flower embroideries.
  • White cotton stockings.
  • Black leather shoes.
  • A wicker basket full of colorful flowers.
Fishermenís costumes
  • A natural-colored linen shirt with a pair of pompoms for the celebration days.
  • Velvet trousers and jacket.
  • Navy blue espadrilles on the feet.
  • A large red belt around the waist.
  • A red woolen cap bordered with black.
Menís working clothes
  • A navy blue linen jacket, a smock, tightened on the waist with a cord.
    During the lemon picking, the workers put the fruit into the jacket. When the jacket was full, they un-tightened the cord and the citrus fruit fell into a basket.
  • Brown corduroy trousers with a large red belt.
  • A red woolen cap bordered with black.
